and can be scaled to any ceiling, unlike traditional mold cast plaster ceiling traceries.

Ornamental plaster ceilings have existed for many centuries, tracing back to early Europe. Much plasterwork is done the same way today as it was over 200 years ago by casting plaster in molds. Although this ancient method can produce beautiful ornamental traceries, the process can be both time consuming and very expensive.



Profile Designs’ faux plaster ceiling systems is an affordable alternative to authentic plaster ceiling treatments. While maintaining the luxurious appeal of plaster ceiling traceries, we can also scale a design to any ceiling, unlike traditional mold cast plaster. Instead of using actual plaster, we use a wood composite material called medium density fiberboard (MDF). MDF is very versatile in its application and has the perfect composition to closely imitate the look of plaster.
